Our Story

From Job Sites to a Los Angeles General Contractor of Our Own

Rafa Home Builders didn’t start in an office. It started on job sites.

We’re Justin and Elon, and building runs in our family: we’re the third generation to make our living in construction. Over 22 years in the trade, we managed projects, coordinated crews, solved problems on site and worked directly with homeowners. Along the way we learned how homes actually get built, and why so many remodels go sideways.

Most of the time, the work itself wasn’t the problem. What wore homeowners down was everything around it: calls that went unanswered, schedules nobody explained, decisions made without them, and no one person who owned the outcome.

So we built the company we would want to hire for our own families. As a licensed general contractor (CSLB #1150519), we keep design, permits and construction under one roof. You see your project in 3D before work begins, we handle the permits and inspections, and one of us stays involved from the first walkthrough to the final punch list.

Today we remodel kitchens and bathrooms, build ADUs, and take on roofing, outdoor living and whole-home projects for homeowners across LA County and Orange County, all from our office in Woodland Hills.

Our names are on every project, and we take that personally. Professional, but never corporate. Organized, but still personal. The people you meet at the start are the same people who walk the finished home with you at the end.

  We bought our house a few years ago and with kids at home, finding a contractor we could trust was really important to us. We met with a few different companies before deciding to go with Rafa Home Builders.

We started with just one project to see how things would go, and honestly, after that first job we just kept giving them more work. They ended up doing our roof, exterior paint, flooring, and bathroom.

The whole experience was great. The crews were always respectful, showed up when they were supposed to, and kept everything clean. If they told us something would be done, it was done. Anytime we asked for something or had a question, they took care of it. They also stayed on schedule, which was a big deal for us.

Justin and Elon were there for us throughout the whole process. We could always reach them when we needed something, and they really made us feel comfortable with everything going on at the house.

We’re really happy we chose Rafa Home Builders. It’s not easy finding people you trust to work on your home, especially when you have a family living there. We started with one project and ended up using them for almost everything, which probably says it all.

  We barely used our backyard before, but since RAFA and the team finished the project, we’re out there all the time. They built a patio cover with lighting, installed artificial turf, and redid the concrete. It completely changed the space and gave us a great place to relax, hang out, and enjoy time with the kids. Warranty coverage and duration vary depending on the type and scope of work, materials used, and applicable manufacturer requirements. Specific warranty terms, coverage, exclusions, and duration are provided in writing as part of the applicable project agreement.

Certain products and materials may also include separate manufacturer warranties, subject to the manufacturer’s terms and conditions.
